Kaituna Valley is the result of the dreams and vision of Grant and Helen Whelan to produce EXCITING and unique wines. Wines that reflect the climate and soils in which the vines are grown and our own winemaking aspirations and philosophies.
And HOW do we do that? Well, we are small producers and believe in a hands-on approach to all aspects of vineyard and winemaking work. This enables us to throw our enthusiasm and energy into producing small amounts of high QUALITY wine.
We have carefully selected a number of vineyard sites that have allowed us to consistently produce SINGLE VINEYARD wines of excellence, character and style. Previously our wines have been awarded nearly 60 Gold Medals and 3 Trophies in New Zealand and International competitions and tastings. Our flagship wines are the Kaituna Vineyard Pinot Noir and the Summerhill Vineyard Pinot Gris.
Our multi-award winning wines are produced from our vineyards at Kaituna Valley and Tai Tapu on Banks Peninsula near Christchurch and in the acclaimed Awatere Valley, Marlborough.
